Spacing t - sets margin-top or padding-top. b - sets margin-bottom or padding-bottom. l - sets margin-left or padding-left. r - sets margin-right or padding-right. x - sets both padding-left and padding-right or margin-left and margin-right. y - sets both padding-top and padding-bottom or margin-top and margin-bottom.
mx-0: This class is used to define margin on the x-axis i.e margin-left and margin-right. -mx-0: This class is used to add a negative margin on right. mt-0: This class is specially used to add a margin on top. -mt-0: This class is specially used to add a negative margin on top.
The size part of the class represents the size of the margin, and the default value is 0.25 rem (root em) per unit in Tailwind, which equals four pixels in the default Tailwind configuration. Tailwind provides standardised margin sizes, ranging from 0 to 96.
The marginTop property sets or returns the top margin of an element. Both the margin property and the padding property insert space around an element. However, the difference is that margin inserts the space around the border, while padding inserts the space within the border of an element.
Margins (and padding) set using percentages will always be a percentage of the inline size (width in a horizontal writing mode) of the parent. This means that you will have equal-sized padding all the way around the element when using percentages.
Use the calc() function to get 100% height with padding and margin. To make sure the content fits within the designated space, set the height to calc(100% (padding + margin)) to deduct the total padding and margin from the parent containers height.
Any margin or padding that has been specified as a percentage is calculated based on the width of the containing element. This means that padding of 5% will be equal to 5px when the parent element is 100px wide, and it will be equal to 50px when the parent element is 1000px wide.
