This tutorial is the second in a series on using Word templates for theses and dissertations at the University of Houston Clear Lake. The folder contains two .dotx files, which are template files, different from regular .docx document files. All Microsoft Word documents are based on a template, with preset styles like normal, heading 1, heading 2, and title. These styles dictate font, size, margins, and more. Working with template files follows the same principle as regular documents, with the template providing formatting instructions every time a document is opened.
