Add recipients directly to your message On your computer, open Gmail. At the top left, click Compose. In the To: line, add recipients. On the right of the To: line, click Use mail merge . Turn on Mail Merge. In your message, enter @. Select a merge tag: To insert the merge tag, press Enter.
The use of a recipients full name in an email greeting is typically reserved for formal communication, while using the first name is common in casual discussions. However, this choice again depends on the senders relationship with the recipient.
To capture someones attention in an email or meeting invite, type the @ symbol followed by their name within the message or invite.
Click Personalization within a text field. Select First name from the list. Optional: in the Default text field, add text to display to recipients whose first name is not set. For example, if youre adding a first name to a line that says Hey FIRSTNAME, you can use there as the default text.
Add or change a signature Open Gmail. At the top right, click Settings. See all settings. In the Signature section, add your signature text in the box. If you want, you can format your message by adding an image or changing the text style. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
ConvertKit makes it easy to address your subscribers by their names throughout your email, again with the shortcode {{ subscriber. firstname }}. In this case, however, you can also add a fallback, which adds an alternative option if a subscribers name isnt specified.
If youre unsure of someones name, simply type @ in the message body, and Outlook will show a list of suggested names. You can then select the person you want to mention from the list.
