Rich text format (RTF) is a file format that enables exchanging text files between different word processing programs. You can identify RTF files by their . rtf extension, and most word processors can open them.
\n has no special meaning in RTF. If you want to output a line break, you will need to use r\line or r\par for a paragraph break instead of (or in addition to, for readability) \n .

To save a file as RTF Open the Word document. From the File button, choose Save As from the menu. Rename the file if desired. Click on the Save As type choice button. Scroll down the list of file types to Rich Text Format (*.rtf) Click Save.
