The binary 11 is the decimal 3, and the binary 1 is 1 as decimal number. The binary 11+1=1002=410. Each binary digit is 0 or 1 times the place value or power of 2 of the numeral position starting from 2⁰ on the right.
Binary addition and subtraction follow certain rules. For example, in addition, 0 + 0 = 0, 0 + 1 = 1, 1 + 0 = 1, 1 + 1 = 0 (CARRY 1), 1 + 1 + 1 = 11 (CARRY 1). In subtraction, 0 - 0 = 0, 0 - 1 = 1 (with a borrow of 1), 1 - 0 = 1, 1 - 1 = 0.
So, 106 written in binary is 01101010.
Something similar happens in binary addition when you add 1 and 1; the result is two (as always), but since two is written as 10 in binary, we get, after summing 1 + 1 in binary, a digit 0 and a carry of 1. Example.

1 in binary is 1. Unlike the decimal number system where we use the digits 0 to 9 to represent a number, in a binary system, we use only 2 digits that are 0 and 1 (bits). We have used 1 bit to represent 1 in binary.
Since the binary system uses only two digits or bits and represents numbers using varying patterns of 1s and 0s, it is known as a base-2 system. Here, 1 refers to on or true, while 0 refers to off or false.
This extra bit is called sign bit or sign flag which has a value of sign bit is 0 for positive numbers and 1 for negative binary numbers.
