so this is called self collection for cervical screening test and this is something which is very commonly done in Australia and if you are one of those ladies living even in India who is scared of getting papsmear done because you are scared of pelvic examination you can request your gynecologist to give you a swap take you a sample and it is very accurate you have to just take the swap from the vagina not even the cervix and it will detect whether there presence or absence of HPV if HPV is present then obviously you need to have a proper testing done

Pap Results Are Often Inaccurate Sometimes these false positive Paps can be explained by a recent vaginal infection, or trauma to the cervix due to douching, tampons, or intercourse; sometimes the false positives just represent an inherent limitation of the test.
In most cases, the presence of abnormal squamous cells does not indicate the presence of cervical cancer. However, abnormal Pap results should always be discussed with a medical professional so that an individualized action plan can be created.

A normal, also called negative, Pap smear result indicates that no evidence of abnormal cells were found in the sample. An abnormal, or positive, result on a Pap smear indicates that abnormal cells were detected in the sample and additional treatment or testing may be necessary.
A normal (or negative) result means that no cell changes were found on your cervix. This is good news. But you still need to get Pap tests in the future. New cell changes can still form on your cervix.
High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL): There are moderately or severely abnormal cervical cells that could become cancer in the future if not treated. Your health care provider will likely ask you to come back for a colposcopy.
