To insert a Unicode character, type the character code, press ALT, and then press X. For example, to type a dollar symbol ($), type 0024, press ALT, and then press X. For more Unicode character codes, see Unicode character code charts by script.
Most Microsoft Windows text files use ANSI, OEM, Unicode or UTF-8 encoding.
If you simply want the character to be printed just as any other letter, include a \ in front of the character. For example, \$ will produce $ in your output. The exception to the rule is the \ itself because \\ has its own special meaning. A \ is produced by typing $\backslash$ in your file.
Unicode uses two encoding forms: 8-bit and 16-bit, based on the data type of the data that is being that is being encoded. The default encoding form is 16-bit, where each character is 16 bits (2 bytes) wide. Sixteen-bit encoding form is usually shown as U+hhhh, where hhhh is the hexadecimal code point of the character.
Inserting Unicode Characters Type the character code where you want to insert the Unicode symbol. Press ALT+X to convert the code to the symbol. If youre placing your Unicode character immediately after another character, select just the code before pressing ALT+X.
Unicode characters can then be entered by holding down Alt , and typing + on the numeric keypad, followed by the hexadecimal code, and then releasing Alt .
Special Characters \ itself because \\ has its own special meaning. Use $\backslash$. ~ and ^ because \~ and \^ produce accents. Use \verb or the verbatim environment.
Go to File Save As and choose UniCode under Encoding:, press Save and overwrite existing file. Close the file. Right click in the right window New String Value and rename it to FileName. Double click on FileName and put UniCode.
