thank you the number of patients undergoing treatment with injectable fillers and Botox seems to be increasing on a day-to-day basis so itamp;#39;s probably appropriate to ask the question whoamp;#39;s qualified to perform these types of procedures and the operative word here is qualified if qualified means licensed then a lot of medical practitioners should be able to perform these procedures these might include licensed practicing nurses registered nurses Nurse Practitioners Physicians assistants and a variety of Physicians including plastic surgeons cosmetic dermatologists family practice doctors and even Radiologists we find however that a lot of people who are performing these procedures arenamp;#39;t really qualified theyamp;#39;ve had inadequate training and in some cases in the case of non-physicians theyamp;#39;re inadequately supervised we feel this is especially true at medical spas where practitioners are supervised in name only we feel that licensure is just a startin

By law, estheticians and cosmetologists can only perform injections, including Botox, under the authority of a physician. Enforcement of this statute lies with the Texas Medical Board (TMB), not the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Texas law states that the only people who can become certified injectors in the Lone Star State are: Doctors (MD) Physician Assistants (PA) Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN)
You cant become a certified cosmetic injector without becoming a registered nurse. Aesthetic or cosmetic nurses are legally registered to provide injection services. Cosmetic or aesthetic nurses can inject dermal fillers, Botox or Dysport, or perform non-surgical body contouring services.
The path to becoming an aesthetic injector might look something like this: Get a degree in nursing. That usually means a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized college or university. Take the exam. Get on-the-job experience. Go for certification.
In conclusion, it is possible for someone who does not have nursing credentials to become a certified Botox injector if they meet certain qualifications and complete additional training in facial anatomy and injection techniques.
In the state of Texas, non-licensed individuals are legally allowed to perform Botox injections as long as they have a medical director overseeing their practice.
In Florida, the injection of Botox and fillers are considered the Practice of Medicine. Thus, a Physician may inject, as well as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) and a Physician Assistant under protocols written and reviewed by a supervising Physician in ance with Florida Law.
Therefore, any person who administers hyaluronic acid filler using a hyaluron pen must have the same type of professional license required to inject medi- cations using a traditional needle and syringe (Thiersch, 2020a).
