@AuthenticationPrincipal The @AuthenticationPrincipal annotation is a Spring Security annotation that is used to inject the current authenticated user into a method or class.
Authentication and Authorization in Spring Boot 3.0 with Spring Step 1: Create a New Spring Boot Project in Spring Initializr. Step 2: Create a UserController. Step 3: Create a SecurityConfig Class.
Simply put, Spring Security hold the principal information of each authenticated user in a ThreadLocal represented as an Authentication object. In order to construct and set this Authentication object we need to use the same approach Spring Security typically uses to build the object on a standard authentication.
Authentication is the process of verifying the digital identity of a client or a user before granting access to an API. Someone (or something) authenticates to prove that theyre the user they claim to be. Authorization is the process of determining what resources a user can access.
In simple terms, authentication is the process of verifying who a user is, while authorization is the process of verifying what they have access to. Comparing these processes to a real-world example, when you go through security in an airport, you show your ID to authenticate your identity.
It is vital to note the difference here between authentication and authorization. Authentication verifies the user (Lucia) before allowing them access, and authorization determines what they can do once the system has granted them access (view sales information).
To know what a user can do, you first need to know who the user is. This is known as authentication. It is often done by asking for a set of credentials, such as username password. Once verified, the client gets information about the identity and access of the user.
SecurityContext context = SecurityContextHolder.getContext(); Authentication authentication = context.getAuthentication(); String username = authentication.getName(); Object principal = authentication.getPrincipal(); Collection
