There are four types of Section Breaks in Microsoft Word: Next Page, Continuous, Even Page, and Odd Page. The opposite of Page Breaks, Section Breaks break the text and the formatting. This is ideal for changing the layout or formatting for certain pages or areas in your document.
Another option when you need a little space is to insert a page break. The difference is that Insert Blank Page puts an entire blank page into your document, and Insert Page Break doesnt. Instead, it pushes whatever comes after the break to the top of the next page. See Add a page break for more about page breaks.
If you select to view the non-printing characters in a document after you set page breaks in Word, you will see that a manual page break is identifiable by the words Page Break in the center of a dashed line within the document.
They are Next Page, Continuous, Odd Page, and Even Page. A Next Page section break inserts a page break, but also creates two separate sections of the document so that each section can have its own unique page layout.
Of this type there are three kinds: simple page breaks, column page breaks, and text wrapping page breaks.
There are two types of page breaks: vertical and horizontal. Vertical page breaks separate columns, while horizontal page breaks separate rows.
In our example, well place it at the beginning of our headings. On the Insert tab, click the Page Break command. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Enter on your keyboard. The page break will be inserted into the document, and the text will move to the next page.
Page breaks are used to end a page without filling it with text. To make sure the title page of your thesis/dissertation is separate from the signature page, for example, insert a page break after the graduation date on the title page.
A page break or hard page break is a code inserted by a software program (e.g., word processor) telling the printer where to end the current page and begin the next. After inserting the Page Break, a symbol indicating the Page Break is shown, and the cursor is placed on the next page.
Use page breaks to control where a page ends and where a new page begins. Place the cursor where you want to start a new page.
