To apply a template to an existing document, we go to File Options Add-ins and in the bottom Manage dropdown we select Templates and click on Go. Then we click on Attach and in the Windows Explorer we select our custom Word template file. Afterwards, we check the box which says Automatically update document styles and with that, our current document will take over the styles from the template document. If you want to support the creation of these short and efficient videos, then you could do me huge favor by hitting the subscribe and the like button. Thanks a lot and I see you in the next one.

A template is a document type that creates a copy of itself when you open it. For example, a business plan is a common document that is written in Word. Instead of creating the structure of the business plan from scratch, you can use a template with predefined page layout, fonts, margins, and styles.
Templates are files that help you design interesting, compelling, and professional-looking documents. They contain content and design elements that you can use as a starting point when creating a document. All the formatting is complete; you add what you want to them.
Document templates typically contain placeholder text or a standard layout that should be repeated for each new file created. Thus, the template allows users to reuse certain standard section of text and simply fill in the variable parts rather than create an entirely new document every time.
A Theme saves the look and feel of the document. A Template uses the Theme look but also adds text that you may want to use again and again.
Where and how to find templates in Word Open Microsoft Word. Click on File in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Choose New from the menu on the left-hand side. You will see a list of template categories on the right-hand side of the screen, including Featured,Personal, and Business.
Even though Word documents look identical to templates, theyre not. Because they cant provide for the same functionality that can be built into a template document. And, as such, dont offer a strong base to work from. Given this, you should never use a document as a substitute template.
If you change a style that has its add to template checkbox ticked then any changes made to this style will be automatically added to the template. Any new documents based on this template will therefore contain the new modified style.
Load templates or add-ins In Word 2010, 2013, or 2016, select File Options Add-Ins. In the Manage list, select Word Add-ins, and then click Go. Click the Templates tab. Under Global templates and add-ins, select the check box next to the template or add-in that you want to load.
