hello everyone welcome to another video my name is mario so and in todays video i want to show you how you can properly expose for f lock in your video especially if you have a person in your frame so a general rule for exposing f lock or any lock footage in particular is to overexpose or expose to the right and depending on the camera or brand that youre using that would mean exposing your footage either one or two stops over to the right on your meter on your camera so this usually gives you a properly exposed image that youre able to later adjust and color correct in post but there is a problem with this when you only rely on your cameras meter to overexpose your lock footage what your meter does is gathering information from your entire frame so if you have a person in your frame in a very bright sunny day or you have a lot of clouds in the background of the subject that are very bright then your meter might feel that its a well balanced frame and will tell you that its prop

Proper skin tone registers anywhere from 42 and 78 IRE depending on the reflectance. So, a good skin tone might appear bright purple (or pink), light grey, or green respectively, ing to the reference chart. Values in the 0 to 7% range, represented here in white, are known as super-black values.
A well-exposed photograph has most of its pixels in the middle range of brightness and just a few black or white pixels. The histogram of a good photograph will also be smooth, showing continuous growth and no spikes. However, for night photos, the histogram should lean more towards the left side of the middle.
If your subject is fair skinned, then you will need to expose at around +1 to get the correct exposure. For medium skin, expose to around +1/2 and for dark skin, you are looking at around 0, and for very dark skin, -1.
LOG is very good at preserving highlights when you have a scene with high contrast. However, in a low light scene you have very low contrast, so it makes sense not to use a LOG curve in this situation.
The correct exposure is the one in which you dont lose information in the shadows or the highlights. In other words, its the exposure that takes full advantage of the cameras sensor capacity to capture as much information as possible from the scene, capturing detail in both the shadows and the highlights.
How to capture natural skin tones in your portrait photos Avoid harsh, direct light. Shooting in natural light is a great way of illuminating your subjects and ensures their skin tone is true to life. Expose different skin tones correctly. Use the Portrait Picture Style. Manually set the white balance. Shoot RAW.
What is Normal Exposure? Normal exposure means the right combination of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Normal exposure also refers to your image not being under/overexposed by accident.
Even though weve been taught to protect our highlights, a good rulebreaker for Log capture is to overexpose the image.
