hello everybody this is tech Hut and this is another Windows basics tutorial and in this one what Im going to be doing is showing you how to use and why youd want to use zip files and windows were gonna go over how to create them how to compress them how to add files to them and Im gonna shout out a tool that adds more functionality to this so a zip file is essentially a way to compress your files down and make them easier to send now lets say I have here a group of files that I want to send together to somebody or I want to upload them to the Internet and make it easier to download all I would need to do is select all of the items that I want to be compressed into the zip folder right click on it and then youre gonna have the option to send it to a compressed zip folder so if I just clicked on that what would happen is it will begin the compressing process and it will create a folder on or in the same directory that you had those files in so here I can name this something like I

To add files or folders to a zipped folder you created earlier, drag them to the zipped folder.
Hold down [Ctrl] on your keyboard Click on each file you wish to combine into a zipped file. Right-click and select Send To Choose Compressed (Zipped) Folder.
A ZIP file is a compressed folder that contains multiple files. ZIP files allow Teacher-Authors to provide multiple files in one TPT resource. ZIP files need to be unzipped in order to extract the files inside.
If youre on a PC using Windows, right-click the folder and in the menu that appears you should select Send to and then under that menu select Compressed (zipped) folder. You then should see a zip-file with the same name as the folder you created appear.
Right-click on the file or folder. To place multiple files into a zip folder, select all of the files while hitting the Ctrl button. Then, right-click on one of the files, move your cursor over the Send to option and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
Creating a zip folder allows files to be organized and compressed to a smaller file size for distribution or saving space. Zip folder can have subfolders within this main folder.
Notes: To add files or folders to a zipped folder you created earlier, drag them to the zipped folder. If you add encrypted files to a zipped folder, theyll be unencrypted when theyre unzipped, which might result in unintentional disclosure of personal or sensitive information.
Hint: click anywhere inside the subject line. Once you see a blinking cursor, press CTRL+A to select the entire subject line. Type your new subject. Click the Save icon in the top left corner of the message window, then close the message.
