okay then so in our project so far we havent talked about state or data much now when we talk about the state of a component we just mean the data being used in that component at that point in time now that state could be an array of values booleans strings objects or any other data that our component uses now we created some variables and we used them in our templates before which worked but what if we had variables or data that we wanted to change over time or in reaction to some event like a user clicking a button well lets first of all try that so notice at the minute i still have this button which references this handle click function and theres nothing in there at the minute now lets create a variable so im going to say lets name equal to mario and then what i want to do is output this name inside the template so p tag and then output the name now if i preview this its going to show that name and it works but what if when i click on this button i want to change this name

First, click on App and observe its state under the Hooks section on the right pane. Second, click on a given player component and examine its props. Finally, click on any of the items in the page and see how the state and props of the parent and child components are updated, respectively.
Note that the following error will occur: Warning: Maximum update depth exceeded. This can happen when a component calls setState inside useEffect, but useEffect either doesnt have a dependency array, or one of the dependencies changes on every render.
The render() function should be pure, meaning that it does not modify a components state. It returns the same result each time its invoked, and it does not directly interact with the browser. In this case, avoid using setState() here.
Usage examples: The State pattern is commonly used in TypeScript to convert massive switch -base state machines into objects. Identification: State pattern can be recognized by methods that change their behavior depending on the objects state, controlled externally.
As stated previously, useState enables you to add state to function components. Calling React.useState inside a function component generates a single piece of state associated with that component. Whereas the state in a class is always an object, with Hooks, the state can be any type.
Yes, but you might not want to. With class components we would keep all of our state in one object. Then when we changed state with setState , we would provide an object and the API would merge its contents into the existing state for us. This doesnt happen with setting state in function components with useState .
setState() is executed, this. state inside it will always refer to the old state, and its value will be changed to the new state only after setState has finished executing, not while it is executing.
To pass the state into another component, you can pass it as a prop. Then, inside , you can access the data as this. props.
