Instead, we call the useState Hook directly inside our component: import React, { useState } from react; function Example() { // Declare a new state variable, which well call count const [count, setCount] = useState(0); What does calling useState do? It declares a state variable.
The state is an instance of React Component Class can be defined as an object of a set of observable properties that control the behavior of the component. In other words, the State of a component is an object that holds some information that may change over the lifetime of the component.
The state is a built-in React object that is used to contain data or information about the component. A components state can change over time; whenever it changes, the component re-renders.
While both hold information that influences the output of render, they are different in one important way: props get passed to the component (similar to function parameters) whereas state is managed within the component (similar to variables declared within a function).
It can be used like this: const [state, setState] = useState(initialValue); Here, the initialValue is the value you want to start with, and state is the current state value that can be used in your component. The setState function can be used to update the state , triggering a re-render of your component.
As described above, State is really just that: The state (i.e. current snapshot) of your program or of a part of it - depending on how you look at it. Its the combination of all those individual states (like modal is open and user is not authenticated, for example) that makes up the overall program state.
The state of a component in React is a plain JavaScript object that controls the behavior of a component. The change in a state triggers component re-renders. Two main React hooks are used to declare and manipulate the state in a function component.
To pass the state into another component, you can pass it as a prop. Then, inside , you can access the data as this. props.
