Raw TCP/IP is a printing method used to open a TCP socket-level connection over Port 9100, to stream a print-ready file to the input buffer of the printer. Raw TCP/IP then closes the connection after sensing an End-Of-Job character in the PDL or after expiration of a preset time-out value.
The LPR protocol requires LPD, or Line Printer Daemon, to function, while RAW protocol creates a data type with the same name in order to perform a print job. Additionally, the RAW protocol sends the data without further processing.
The age-old question remains Should I be shooting my images in RAW or JPEG?. The answer to that question really boils down to your end goal. If you are taking your camera out with the intent to capture high-quality imagery for printing purposes, RAW should always be your go-to.
Raw has more options for correcting exposure issues With a JPEG, white balance is applied by the camera, and there are fewer options to modify it in post-processing. With a raw file, you have complete control over white balance when editing the image. Lost detail in overexposed highlights cannot be recovered in a JPEG.
In the past, photographers had to convert their raw images into JPEG or TIFF format before they could be printed. However, the growing popularity of the raw file format has encouraged several printer manufacturers to include facilities for printing raw files in some models in their printer range.
Additionally, shooting in RAW doesnt just make for better edits; it makes for better quality images overall - especially when being blown up to bigger sizes for printing custom wall art. Since the camera does not process the photos, the end result is photos that appear more life-like and realistic.
RAW printing is sending a string of commands to a printer directly in its native language. Many printers that are popular with PrintNode users support this. RAW printing bypasses the printers drivers, making it very fast and reliable. It is perfect for printing receipts, barcodes and text-based labels.
