Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today we are going to look at page numbers in Microsoft Word. Were going to start with the absolute basics of how you even just get a page number onto every single page in Word. Then well look at some more advanced topics like how you start your page numbers from a specific page. To follow along, Ive included a sample document down below in the description. Lets check this out. Here I am in Microsoft Word, and I want to add page numbers to this document. To insert page numbers, up on the top tabs, lets click on the insert option. Over on the right-hand side, lets click on page number and here we see several different options. We can insert a page number at the top of the page and here we can left align it, center align it, or right align it, and if I scroll down, we see a number of different options. You can even add page one of one or one of however many pages you have, and here you have some different formats. I could add a page num

Insert Page X of Y Go to Insert Page Number. Do one of the following: Select Current Position if you have a header or footer. Scroll until you see Page X of Y and select a format. Select Close Header and Footer, or double-click anywhere outside the header or footer area.
At the top of the page, before the first line/word, click on the document to place your curser. Then choose Page Layout from the top menu. Next select Breaks - Next Page. Now choose Insert from the top menu and then select Page Numbers and then choose how you want them to appear in the document.
On the Header Footer Tools Design tab, in the Options group, select the check box for Different First Page. Insert page numbers in the top right corner of your paper and in the top left corner, type Running head: TITLE. This title is abbreviated.
If you want continuous pagination that is all in the same format, go to the Insert Ribbon, and in the Header Footer Group, click on the Page Number icon. Choose the appropriate placement of the number and a style.
Start page numbering later in your document Go to Insert Header or Footer Edit Header or Edit Footer. Select Different First Page. In the header or footer area, you should see a label on the first page that says First Page Header. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.
Press the shortcut key combination ALT - F9 to display the field, or page numbers, instead of the field code.
