And usually its an idea thats repeated, developed, expanded, contracted, so its a kind of compositional device. A lot of Baroque music is built out of little motifs. So, its a particular feature there. But essentially, its an idea that can be used in any style. And its interesting how many twentieth century composers have been inspired by some of the kind of Baroque motif idea, to present something in a totally new and different style.
