So maybe in Excel or in Outlook, you have a list of maybe 30, 50, 60, maybe even hundreds of addresses and you want to print each one of those addresses onto an address label. Well, one way to do that is you could create a new address label sheet in Microsoft Word, and you could go through, and you could copy and paste each address into one of the labels and then you could print it out. To launch a new EC2 instance from an AMI, do the following: Open the EC2 console. From the navigation bar, choose AMIs. Find the AMI that you want to use to launch a new instance. Select the AMI, and then choose Launch. Choose an instance type, and then choose Next: Configure Instance Details. Select Next: Add Storage.
An AMI owner can determine their instance availability through the following three launch permissions: Public, that grants instance launch permission to all AWS account holders. Explicit, that grants launch permission only to specific AWS accounts. Implicit, where only the AMI owner has permission to launch an instance.
An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is a template that contains a software configuration (for example, an operating system, an application server, and applications). From an AMI, you launch an instance, which is a copy of the AMI running as a virtual server in the cloud.
Select the Tags tab for the AMI. Click Add/Edit Tags Create Tag. Enter AMI Standard as the key with {yyyy-mm-dd} as the value (replace {yyyy-mm-dd} with todays date). Click Save.

Log in to the AWS Management Console, display the EC2 page for your region, then click Instances. Choose the instance from which you want to create a custom AMI. Click Actions and click Create Image. Type a name for Image Name that is easily identifiable to you and, optionally, input text for Image Description.
