How to include comma in the Letter of Recommendation for College

- So when were reading a recommendation letter, what were looking for is what kind of presence you are in a classroom. And thats very important to us because, ultimately, what a university is is its a lot of classrooms. Its a lot of people looking to discover new knowledge. - Teachers that can give anecdotes about a student in a classroom can be really helpful because were trying to imagine this student in our classroom and were wondering if this is a student that always is speaking up and always raising their hand, the student that the teacher would ask to watch the class if they had to leave the room for a minute. Or if this is a student whos fairly quiet and only speaks once in a while but when that student speaks, it kind of turns the conversation on its head. - What I recommend for students to do, and for you to do in this process, would be to sit down with that teacher, maybe even give them four or five bullet points of, you know, why you wanted them to write your letter

Below are some common questions from our customers that may provide you with the answer you're looking for. If you can't find an answer to your question, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Contact us
Open with a formal salutation If possible, address the letter to the specific college or scholarship board it is for, but To Whom It May Concern and Dear Admissions Representative are both acceptable salutations if your letter is going to be used for multiple applications. Use a colon instead of a comma.
How to end a reference letter Summarize your primary points. Mention your own qualifications. Add a powerful concluding statement. Say that youre available to provide additional information. Sign with your name and title.
Many counselors recommend beginning with a statement of how you know the student (did you teach them in a subject, coach them in a sport or supervise them in an internship?) and for how long youve known them. Use the students full name in the first mention, then just the first name.
If youre writing a professional recommendation, you might start with Dear Hiring Committee or Dear Hiring Manager. Another safe option is To Whom It May Concern, which you can use in lieu of a more specific form of address.
The closing of the letter should briefly summarize previous points and clearly state that you recommend the candidate for employment (or graduate school, etc.). Finally, you want to give them your contact information in case they want to contact you directly.
How to Write (Format) A recommendation letter should fill an entire page (usually 400 500 words) and contain an introduction, two (2) body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The student should be described in a way that highlights both their academic skills and personal qualities.
What to Include in a Letter of Recommendation Salutation of one line. One paragraph detailing how you know the person and why you are qualified. One paragraph explaining why you recommend the person and details on what theyve done or accomplished. One summary reinforcing that you highly recommend the person.
Complimentary Close The complimentary close for a reference letter is like any other professional letter. You can sign off using an appropriate word or phrase (Sincerely, Regards, Kind regards, or similar), leave a space for your handwritten signature and type your full name.
