In XHTML, is used for attaching notes, copyright notices, etc.. behind the scenes. Whats inside a comment has no effect on a page at all, though if you put something inside a comment you effectively remove it from the page.
In HTML, special characters are typically those that cant be easily typed into a keyboard or may cause display issues if typed or pasted into a web page. If you plan to use any of the special characters on this page, you should use either the HTML entity name or the HTML entity number.
You can have apostrophes, hyphens and spaces in a name, but they cant be consecutive. Also, Baby, Babyboy, Babygirl, Baby Boy, Baby Girl, Infant, Test, Unk and Void are invalid entries in the data entry system. Derogatory or obscene names are banned in California.
The maximum tag value length is 256 Unicode characters in UTF-8. Allowed characters are letters, numbers, spaces representable in UTF-8, and the following characters: . : + = @ / - (hyphen).
Special Characters in HTML: Instructions To add special characters in HTML, type an ampersand followed by a pound sign (#) at the place within your HTML document where you want to add a special character. Type the number of the proper code for the character to add. Type a semicolon (;) to finish.
Do not use any of these common illegal characters or symbols in your filenames or folders: # pound. % percent. ampersand. { left curly bracket. } right curly bracket. left angle bracket. right angle bracket. * asterisk. ? $ dollar sign. ! exclamation point. single quotes. + plus sign. ` backtick. | pipe. = equal sign.
Special characters are not allowed when creating a tag, such as ( ). Seems hyphens and underscores are ok, though. Wed like to update our tagging logic to avoid these special characters but it would be good to know which characters.
XHTML was developed to make HTML more extensible and flexible to work with other data formats (such as XML). In addition, browsers ignore errors in HTML pages, and try to display the website even if it has some errors in the markup. So XHTML comes with a much stricter error handling.
