In this video Id like to show you how to insert a symbol in Microsoft Word. And this can be pretty useful when youre looking for a character, a graphic, or some type of image that isnt available on the keyboard. So let me show you what I mean. If I go to, actually first lets dial up this font so its easier for you to see, if I go to Insert and then Symbol notice first of all that I have a lot of symbols, some of these Ive used recently, some I have not. But they give me a lot of symbols here. Im going to go ahead and go to More Symbols. And then here we have a whole bunch of different symbols we can use. I like to use the mathematical operators for some of the work I do. Where just to show you briefly here, notice here theres a less than or equal sign, greater than equal sign, these arent symbols that I cant get from my keyboard. I cant get that equal part of the less than sign. So if I like a symbol, I want to select it, click Insert, and there you go. so heres my le

This command helps you insert characters that you cant type. (The characters you cant type depend on the keyboard youre using.) To insert frequently used characters, you dont need the Insert symbol window.
Insert a symbol On the Insert menu, click Advanced Symbol, and then click the Special Characters tab. Click the character that you want.
Microsoft Word includes two types of special characters: (1) text characters that dont appear on standard keyboards and (2) formatting characters for text layout. Todays post explains all of the special characters in Microsoft Word for Microsoft 365, Word 2021, Word 2019, and Word 2016.
Search for Special Characters Click the Find list arrow. Select Advanced Find. Click the More button to expand the dialog box, if necessary. Click in the Find what text field. Click the Special button. Select a special character. Click the Find Next button.
Inserting ASCII characters To insert an ASCII character, press and hold down ALT while typing the character code. For example, to insert the degree () symbol, press and hold down ALT while typing 0176 on the numeric keypad. You must use the numeric keypad to type the numbers, and not the keyboard.
To insert a symbol: From the Insert tab, click Symbol. Choose the symbol that you want from the drop-down list. If the symbol is not in the list, click More Symbols. In the font box, choose the font you are using, click the symbol you want to insert, and select Insert.
