at Abels actual field name is important it shouldnt contain any special characters or spaces and should be consistent from table to table to make creating relationships or querying easy for the designer however most field names for this reason arent exactly pretty or very descriptive for the end user take this field for example the employee info ID field that is the field name assigned to fields created using the lookup wizard and all that means is that this field is looking up data stored in the employee info table through its ID field but to an innocent end user they might see this and think theyre supposed to type in an ID number rather than choose a job title from the list provided so adding a caption that will display over whatever this field name actually is can spare end users some possible confusion to add a caption to a field go back into design view select the field that youd like to add a caption to and jump down to the field properties area to the section called captio
