hi and welcome students today Im gonna be doing a video request for Microsoft Word 2016 the request comes in from Natasha Natasha asks hey Morgan could you do me a favor and make another video about how to add a caption alright well Im gonna go ahead and show you how to add a caption in Microsoft Word 2016 lets go ahead and get started adding captions it can be pretty easy once you know how to do it a lot of people when they have a picture on their word document theyll try to put text below it but it wont really work out because that text is in with the regular body paragraphs so we dont want that instead what you would do is lets say we wanted to add a caption to this picture right here I can click on the picture and then once the picture is selected I could go to the references tab and then I could go to the captions group and I could click right there on insert caption and this labels your picture or object you could do this to a picture you can do this to a table so lets go

From the References tab, in the Captions group, select Cross-reference . In the Cross-reference dialog box, select the reference type and other options. In the For which caption section, select the item you want to reference and select Insert .
To add captions in Word, first select the object, table or equation to which you want to apply a caption. Then click the References tab in the Ribbon. Then click the Insert Caption button in the Captions button group to open the Caption dialog box.
The Caption options in Microsoft Word allow you to label images, diagrams, charts, illustrations and figures so your reader can quickly identify what they mean, as well as enabling use of the dynamic list functions offered by Microsoft Word.
To insert a caption: ALT + S + P . These shortcuts work with English, they will be different in your native language.
Word Click the picture you want to add a caption to. Click References Insert Caption. To use the default label (Figure), type your caption in the Caption box.
Add captions On the References tab, in the Captions group, click Insert Caption. In the Label list, select the label that best describes the object, such as a figure or equation. If the list doesnt provide the label you want, click New Label, type the new label in the Label box, and then click OK.
If that box is grayed out, it means you did not have the object selected when you clicked the Insert Caption button. You can hit Close in the caption pop-up, select the object, and then click the Insert Caption button if you would like to start again and use Position.
Add a Caption Select the figure/table/equation, go to the References tab on the ribbon and select Insert Caption.
