In this video, you will learn how to import pdfs into your Zotero library. You can easily drag and drop pdfs into your chosen collection. If a pdf already has good metadata, Zotero will capture it and create a parent record. Sometimes retrieving the metadata does not work or the information is missing or incomplete. Choose retrieve metadata for pdf to let Zotero search for the citation information for that article. If this does not work, you need to manually add the information to the item. Right-click and choose create parent item. Fill in the information for the item manually.

Choose File Properties, click the Description tab, and then click Additional Metadata. Select Advanced from the list on the left. Save the document metadata, and then click OK: To save the metadata to an external file, click Save and name the file.
PDF documents created in Acrobat 5.0 or later contain document metadata in XML format. Metadata includes information about the document and its contents, such as the authors name, keywords, and copyright information, that can be used by search utilities.
Select all the text from your PDF by pressing Ctrl-A, including the hidden words, and use Ctrl-C to copy the text. Paste the text into an open Word document by pressing Ctrl-V. This will transfer all of the text in your PDF document, including hidden text that has been revealed, to a new document in Word.
Adding metadata to your document increases the searchability of your document. It also allows software applications to display information about the document to give the user enough information to determine if this is the document contains the information they are looking for.
Copying and pasting metadata First select the asset that contains the metadata that you would like to duplicate. Now, select Ctrl-Shift-C (Windows) or Command-Shift-C (Mac) to copy the metadata fields to the clipboard. Next, select the assets to which you would like to apply the same metadata.
Once you have access to docHub Pro, follow the steps below: Run docHub as an Administrator. When the program loads, go to File and select Properties. A window will appear. This will display the PDFs metadata. Choose to remove it, and then click OK.
How to view PDF metadata? Open the concerned PDF document in docHub and go to File Properties Description. It will show you a window that consists of different components of the metadata of the concerned PDF document.
PDF files retain some basic file description metadata, such as author, file name, and date, which can be minimized if the proper conversion settings are used (see page 31).
