hey Cass students this is Jacob Clifford and welcome to a CDC econ lets play a quick game Im gonna show you three graphs and even if you dont fully understand the concepts or the terms lets see if you can spot what they all have in common okay theres the first graph its the federal funds rate you dont know what that is its okay its the rate that banks charge each other for overnight loans and its the target rate the Fed looks at when its trying to decide what to do with monetary policy lets move to the second graph this shows you the excess reserves that commercial banks have deposited with the Fed its basically the amount of money that the banks can loan out theyre not theyre holding it in reserves and the last graph actually shows two data sets it shows the consumer price index which shows you know whats happening with inflation and also the money supply in general when you look at these graphs do you notice anything well in every single case theres been dramatic cha
