here are four things you should know about vacation time in the Army every month you get 2.5 leave days in the Army which is a total of 30 per year number two you usually get blocked leave two weeks in the summer and two weeks in the winter which is holiday block leave which is usually during Christmas time and New Years time number three you can save your leave days instead of taking those blocked lead days and save it for later on which is what I do when I PCS which is permanent change of station and I at least do 30 days and still get paid number four which is amazing if Im sick I dont have to use my vacation days if Im actually sick I have to go to the doctor get a note and then I can stay home what do you do when youre on leave and still getting paid

Generally, only public employers are required to pay for any part of military leave. Private employers may grant annual leave with or without pay and may pay for all or part of the leave. In the case of active duty leave, the employer may adopt a policy of paying the difference between civilian pay and military pay.
The use of paid time off/vacation benefits is the employees choice for military-related absences. An employer is prohibited from requiring employees to use their leave benefits for a military absence; however, the employer must allow the use of paid leave if an employee requests it. See 20 C.F.R.
When may an employer require an employee to provide documentation of military service? After periods of military leave of absence for more than 30 days, the employer has the right to request such documentation, which can be used to establish the employees basic eligibility for protection under USERRA.
However, an employer should not ask an applicant the reason he or she was discharged from the military or request to see military discharge papers (DD-214), except when directly related to the job or to determine veterans preference.
Your Employer Cant Fire You if Youre Called to Military Service. The jobs of employees who are called to active duty or training are protected under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
You dont have a right of refusal for military leave and cannot take any adverse action against the service member, or threaten to take adverse action, for leaving for service.
To obtain information about an applicants military service, an employer is permitted to make inquiries on the dates of military service, duties performed, rank during service at the time of discharge, pay during service and at the time of discharge, training received, and work experience.
5 U.S.C. 6323 (a) provides 15 days per fiscal year for active duty, active duty training, and inactive duty training. An employee can carry over a maximum of 15 days into the next fiscal year.
