Invisible characters in Word are just formatting marks. They are used in Word to show the layout of a document. You can see arrows (for tabs), dots for spaces, an anchor for an object anchor and so on and you know exactly how the text is built for example where a paragraph starts and where it ends.
Go to Insert Symbol. Pick a symbol, or choose More Symbols. Scroll up or down to find the symbol you want to insert.
The Show/Hide button turns hidden characters like spaces, paragraph markers, or tab marks on and off. Go to File Options Display.
The paragraph symbol on the show/hide button is a pillcrow which is used by Word to designate an end of paragraph mark.
Step 1: Go to the MS word document and choose Home from the Blue ribbon. Then choose File. Step 2: Choose Display from the several options that are shown. Step 3: Now you can unselect the Show All Formatting Marks under the Always show these formatting Marks on the Screen option.
Click Home tab. Click Show/Hide button. The hidden formatting symbols are now shown. These symbols represent spaces, new paragraphs, page breaks, and other bits of text and page formatting. Click Show/Hide button again.
