The trick is fairly easy. Thanks to IntoWindows for pointing it out. To close Sticky Notes app without losing all my notes, simply press Alt + F4. Its the keyboard shortcut known for closing any active application.
Remove your highlights or sticky notes in PDFs Click on the highlight or sticky note, and then right click your mouse for options. Make sure you DO NOT click Remove. Do not choose Hide Notes/Mark-up either, because it will hide all the sticky notes and highlights.

Go to the taskbar icon for Sticky Notes and right-click it. Then, click the Hide all Notes option from the context menu. All notes will be minimized. To open them, right-click the taskbar icon for the app again and select Show all notes from the menu.
