The Social Security Number (SSN) Encryption module allows you to maintain SSN in a secure manner only allowing those with the proper security clearance to be able to access the full SSN.
Organizations that maintain SSNs in their system of records should consider encryption of this data. Encrypting data is a good way to protect sensitive information. It ensures that the data can only be read by the person who is authorized to have access to it.
Our first option is to use a strong one-way hashing algorithm like SHA-512 to make the data unreadable and then only store the hashed value in the database. We should use a secret salt value (or key) as part of the hashing construction.
Most banks or credit unions offer safe deposit boxes. Some banks will offer a discount if youre a current customer as well. A safe deposit box is perfect for storing original documents, like birth certificates, wills, social security information, annual tax returns, and power of attorney.
I recommend using text arithmetic to solve your problem. To do this, create a new column containing the formula =*** - ** - RIGHT(B2,4), to insert asterisks and dashes along with the last four digits of each employees Social Security number, as illustrated in column C below.
If you are applying for an SSN on behalf of someone else, you must provide evidence of your authority to sign the application on behalf of the person to whom the card will be issued and evidence of your own identity.

Uncheck the Employee social security number and then check the Only the last four digits of SSNs and bank account numbers box. Then click OK to save.
