The hospital will have diapers, wipes, baby wash, and lotion, but if you have a certain brand you want to use, then you can bring your own. Its actually not a bad idea to bring a small extra bag to put all the free (kind of) stuff in that the hospital will send you home with.
Hospital Bag Checklist |What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag for Mom Baby Nursing bra and/or nursing tank. Nursing cover. Leggings. Outfit to go home in. Robe. Slippers. Sweatshirt that zips or cardigan style. Toiletries.
Youll want your hairbrush, regular or dry shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm, extra hair ties and face wipes (Babylist parents recommend these in case youre not up to showering right away). Remember extra contacts and/or glasses, if you wear them. Your birth plan.
BREASTFEEDING PILLOW: Bring a Boppy (its a kind of breast-feeding pillow). Its indispensable for feeding and also good to sit on if youre sore down there.
Breastfeeding pillow (Boppy/Brest Friend pillow/etc.) If you think youre going to use it, then I suggest bringing it, and the lactation consultants can help you figure out how to use it. Theyre pretty big, though, and you can always use pillows at the hospital instead of bringing in your own breastfeeding pillow.
Hospitals generally will cover everything you will need to take care of your baby while you are there, so there is not need to bring a giant pack of diapers with you. Baby shampoo, diaper cream for sticky meconium poos, diapers, wipes and more are usually provided.
Pillow* - Hospitals provide a pillow, but if you LOVE your pillow, bring your own. Make sure to have a non-white pillowcase, as to not get it confused with the hospitals pillows. Blanket* - Hospitals tend to be on the chillier side and the blankets they provide are not always the warmest.
Hospital Bag Checklist Lip Balm. More moms talked about packing lip balm than nearly any other item, and for a good reason. Your Own Toiletries. Slippers. Glasses. Nursing Bra. Nursing Pads. Phone Charger. Snacks.
