Stopping a card payment You can tell the card issuer by phone, email or letter. Your card issuer has no right to insist that you ask the company taking the payment first. They have to stop the payments if you ask them to. If you ask to stop a payment, the card issuer should investigate each case on its own merit.
Contact the Vendor Write to the vendor thats charging your card and request an end to your service or subscription. Ask for a response in writing. Send your letter by certified mail stating that you want no further money taken from your credit card account once any notice of termination period has expired.
Give your bank a stop payment order Even if you have not revoked your authorization with the company, you can stop an automatic payment from being charged to your account by giving your bank a stop payment order . This instructs your bank to stop allowing the company to take payments from your account.
Stopping an automatic, recurring payment on a credit card is different. Start by putting in your request with the vendor. But if the vendor continues to charge your credit card, contact your card issuer. Youll have 60 days to dispute the charge, starting when the card issuer sends you the statement with the charges.
The best way to stop recurring payments on a credit card (like utilities, subscription services, or rent) is to contact the service provider directly. You may be able to do that online, by phone, in person, or by mail, depending on the service.

Another option is to ask your bank for a stop payment order. This request directs your bank to stop making future payments to a company. You can give the order in person or over the phone, but whichever you choose, its always best to get it in writing and do so promptly before the next payment is scheduled.
