Delivery instruments (sterile) Scissors. Needle holder. Artery forceps or clamp. Dissecting forceps. Sponge forceps. Vaginal speculum.
BREASTFEEDING PILLOW: Bring a Boppy (its a kind of breast-feeding pillow). Its indispensable for feeding and also good to sit on if youre sore down there.
Hospital Bag Checklist Lip Balm. More moms talked about packing lip balm than nearly any other item, and for a good reason. Your Own Toiletries. Slippers. Glasses. Nursing Bra. Nursing Pads. Phone Charger. Snacks.
Pillow* - Hospitals provide a pillow, but if you LOVE your pillow, bring your own. Make sure to have a non-white pillowcase, as to not get it confused with the hospitals pillows. Blanket* - Hospitals tend to be on the chillier side and the blankets they provide are not always the warmest.
Youll want your hairbrush, regular or dry shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm, extra hair ties and face wipes (Babylist parents recommend these in case youre not up to showering right away). Remember extra contacts and/or glasses, if you wear them. Your birth plan.
The hospital will have diapers, wipes, baby wash, and lotion, but if you have a certain brand you want to use, then you can bring your own. Its actually not a bad idea to bring a small extra bag to put all the free (kind of) stuff in that the hospital will send you home with.
Breastfeeding pillow (Boppy/Brest Friend pillow/etc.) If you think youre going to use it, then I suggest bringing it, and the lactation consultants can help you figure out how to use it. Theyre pretty big, though, and you can always use pillows at the hospital instead of bringing in your own breastfeeding pillow.
For the birth room Your birth plan that is, a written list of what youd like to happen when you are in labour and how youd like to give birth. A light dressing gown, for early labour when you may walk around the hospital corridors. Slippers or non-slip socks.
