Include each first authors initial(s) in all citations. Do this for the first author only when there are multiple authors in a single reference. Initial(s) are included even if year of publication differs.
To cite works by these people, provide the full name without abbreviation, because abbreviating the given name would render the name unintelligible. So for example, a work by Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia, would be cited as such: Reference list: Sukarno.
You only need to provide initials for the first and middle names, but do include initials for all middle names provided by the source. Include a comma after every last name and in-between different authors names. Include a period after every initial. Always close the Author portion of the citation with one period.
If there are two authors with the same last name, the first initial of the first author should be included in the citation.
APA 7 Style uses the author-date citation method with parentheses. After a quote, add parentheses containing the authors name, the year of publication, and the page number(s) the quote appears. For quotations that are on one page, type p. before the page number.
Although you may be tempted to include the initials every time the surname Campbell appears in the text citations, note that per APA Style, the initials should be included only when Campbell is the lead author. Therefore, initials should be used for only two of the above four references in the text citations.
APA in-text citations with multiple authors If there are three or more authors, only include the first authors last name followed by et al., meaning and others. Group authors known by their abbreviations (e.g., CDC) are written in full the first time and are abbreviated in subsequent citations.
List author names in the order they appear in the document or text. Begin with the surname followed by the initials of the first and middle name. Place a comma after the surname. Place a period after each initial in the first and middle name.
