Newborn (10 pounds and under): Young babies grow fast, so theyll graduate from newborn diapers after a few weeks. Plan to go through about eight-12 diapers per day, which equates to about one or two boxes (assuming each box contains 140 diapers). Note that many parents receive newborn diapers from the hospital too.
Toiletries bag Moisturiser. Dry shampoo. Mini shampoo and conditioner. Basic makeup. Lip balm. Face mist. Hand sanitiser. Hair brush and hair ties.
Delivery instruments (sterile) Scissors. Needle holder. Artery forceps or clamp. Dissecting forceps. Sponge forceps. Vaginal speculum.
2 packets of super-absorbent sanitary or maternity pads. 5 or 6 pairs of knickers you may want to bring some disposable ones. your washbag with a toothbrush, hairbrush, flannel, soap, lip balm, deodorant, hair ties and other toiletries.

Youll want your hairbrush, regular or dry shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm, extra hair ties and face wipes (Babylist parents recommend these in case youre not up to showering right away). Remember extra contacts and/or glasses, if you wear them. Your birth plan.
Do not bring diapers or wipes! The hospital has all the diapers and wipes youll need. In fact, one Babylist parent suggested bringing an extra bag for all the freebies youll bring home from hospital.
If you need to go to the hospital with your little one after giving birth, then packing 12 newborn nappies will be enough for an overnight stay. However, its always best to prepare for complications which is why its recommended that you do pack a few more.
