Open the form or report Layout View or Design View. Position the pointer in the text box with the number or currency. Open the query in Design View. Right-click the date field, and then click Properties. In the Property Sheet, select the format you want from the Format property list.
Format Fields within Queries In Design View, select the field that you want to format. Click the Property Sheet button on the Design tab. The Property Sheet appears. Click the Format box in the Property Sheet. Type how you want the field to be formatted.
You can specify the number of decimal places that you want to use, whether you want to use a thousands separator, and how you want to display negative numbers. Tip: To quickly apply the Currency format, select the cell or range of cells that you want to format, and then press Ctrl+Shift+$.
What happens if you apply the Currency format to a Number field? Access displays a currency symbol in the field, but does not change the stored value.
A Currency data type has no field size option and is fixed to a Double size up to 4 decimal places. A Number with a field size set to Integer has a different range with no decimal places. A Number with a field size set to Single has a different range up to 6 decimal places.
Tip: You can also press Ctrl+1 to open the Format Cells dialog box. In the Format Cells dialog box, in the Category list, click Currency or Accounting. In the Symbol box, click the currency symbol that you want. Note: If you want to display a monetary value without a currency symbol, you can click None.
If you have only one currency in your multi-currency organization, you can set a preference to display currency symbols instead of ISO codes: Go to User Interface, and then select Show currency symbols instead of ISO codes
The C (or currency) format specifier is used to convert a number to a string representing a currency amount. Let us see an example. double value = 139.87; Now to display the above number until three decimal places, use (C3) currency format specifier.
