A calorie bonus is calorie burn that is credited to your Log when you exceed what Lose It! estimates you burn in a day. Lose It! estimates your daily target calorie burn using your Estimated Energy Requirement (EER), which is your basal metabolic rate (BMR) multiplied by your chosen physical activity level (PAL).
Active calories include total calories burned from exercise. Because of this, when you sync a workout from Health to Lose It!, the calorie bonus from the workout will be excluded from the total because Lose It! will assume all other HealthKit workout calories are already accounted for in the Active Calorie total.
Most adults do not need to eat back their exercise calories because they are doing moderate activities, like walking, biking, swimming, weight-lifting, etc. These activities do not burn enough calories to require a post-workout snack, particularly if weight-loss is the intended goal.
Exercises outside of your daily work/life routine should be logged as exercise. However, if youre using an Apple Watch, theres no need to manually log exercise as your total calorie burn will be used to track your activity and any workouts will already sync over from the Watch.
Lose It! app: Open the Lose It! app. Tap Log on the bottom banner. Tap on your calorie budget under the progress bar at the top of the screen. iOS: Use the slider under Activity Level to select the option that best fits your daily routine. Android: Tap Activity Level and select the option that best fits your daily routine.
Go to the Log screen. Scroll down to the Exercise section. Select the Apple Health exercise. Under Options, Enable Exclude from Total Save.
If your workouts are automatically syncing over to Lose It! as crossed out and excluded, this is expected. You should not manually include them, since the exercise calories burned will be accounted for once you receive a calorie bonus.
We recommend choosing the activity level that best coincides with your daily work/life routine, excluding optional exercise. Exercises outside of your daily work/life routine should be tracked as exercise.
