[Music] hey everybody this is Tim Pulaski with trimack and today I want to take a look at how to add your cross-reference lists to a non-printable layer in SolidWorks electrical so if youre not already familiar with what cross-reference lists are theyre these lists that appear beside any parent symbol such as a coil for a contact re way to help you keep track of where all of those contacts are currently being used now theyre nice from the designers perspective but for somebody whos reviewing this drawing they may just represent clutter or be questionable in nature and just kind of confuse the user so or the reader so what I typically like to do is hide these from the viewer by putting them on a non printable layer so thats what I want to show you how to do here today the first thing that were going to need before we do that is a non printable layer so I can add one of those to my project by coming up to the modify tab and selecting layers now I already have one here called aw not

Order the citations alphabetically. Note: The list of references and in-text citations MUST correlate with one another. For example, if the first words of your reference entry are Cross-cultural factors, then your in-text citation should be the same: (Cross-Cultural Factors, year).
A cross-reference allows you to link to other parts of the same document. For example, you might use a cross-reference to link to a chart or graphic that appears elsewhere in the document. The cross-reference appears as a link that takes the reader to the referenced item.
Using In-text Citation APA in-text citation style uses the authors last name and the year of publication, for example: (Field, 2005). For direct quotations, include the page number as well, for example: (Field, 2005, p. 14).
Providing you have given all the details in a footnote the first time you reference, you can, in subsequent footnotes, briefly refer to the source, and then provide a cross-citation in brackets to the footnote in which the full citation can be found.
Include both the original author and year and the author and year of the work where quote/idea was found in the in-text reference. Add as cited in before the author in the in-text reference. For example - (Harris, 2009, as cited in Lewis, 2019).
Using Cross-References Put your cursor where you want the reference to be. Select the type of item you are referencing from the Reference type pulldown. For figures, select Only Label and Number from the Insert reference to: pulldown, unless you want the entire caption to appear in the text.
To delete a cross-reference in a document, do the following: Choose View Panels Cross-References to open the Cross-References panel. Select the cross-reference in the Cross-References panel. Click Delete.
