Right click and choose Format cells. Go to the Protection tab and uncheck Locked option and click Ok. Now select only the cells or columns, rows that you want to protect. Right click and choose Format cells again.
How to Use Data Validation in Google Sheets Select the cell or cell range that you want to use data validation on. Go to the Data menu and then select Data Validation. Enter your criteria. Click Save.
On the Home tab, click the Format Cell Font popup launcher. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+F or Ctrl+1. In the Format Cells popup, in the Protection tab, uncheck the Locked box and then click OK. This unlocks all the cells on the worksheet when you protect the worksheet.
To unlock the cell: On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click Format, and then click Format Control. On the Protection tab, clear the Locked check box, and then click OK.
To remove the circle from a single cell, enter valid data in the cell. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, click the arrow next to Data Validation, and then click Clear Validation Circles.
Clear Restricted Values Go to the Data Ribbon Menu and select Data Data Validation. This will bring up the Data Validation Settings Menu. Click Clear All to remove the data restrictions in this range of cells. Then click OK to apply the new settings.
By default, cells are locked once a worksheet is protected. If there are cells that users should be able to change after a worksheet has been protected, make sure to unlock them before you protect the worksheet. Select the cells you want to unlock. Click the Format button on the Home tab.
