To hide specific columns without filtering the underlying data, we can filter on LAST(), INDEX(), FIRST(), or RANK() and use table calculations to display the correct values. The below example uses the Sample - Superstore data source.
Insert new measure into the Filters pane for the table only (whatever visual you want hidden). Tick Show from the list then OK. When Hide is selected in the parameter control, the table visual should then disappear.
In general, if a column is grayed out, it means, the column is not used anywhere and option Hide All Unused field is selected along with option Show Hidden field. Just un-check the Show Hidden Field option.
There is a way to do this: Set up the worksheet using Measure Names / Measure Values. In the Measures section, hide the measures that shouldnt be visible in the filter; right-click on the measure name (or ctrl-click for bulk) and Hide.
Hover the cursor over the dimension value you want to hide. Right-click on the dimension value. Select Hide.
Hiding columns in Tableau To hide a column simply right click on the column and select Hide. Note, you can show any hidden column by right clicking any of the visible columns and choose Show hidden data.
Right-click the column and duplicate the column within the dimensions. Now drag the copy into the filters card, this time selecting it as an exclude filter and choosing the values you want to exclude from the report.
How to Hide and Show Parameters by Using Dashboard Actions in Tableau? But, how can we hide the parameters when we dont need them? Create a target graph we want to show when selecting a specific field in the main table. Create an spacer worksheet to help hide the parameter in the dashboard. Create a new dashboard.
In general, if a column is grayed out, it means, the column is not used anywhere and option Hide All Unused field is selected along with option Show Hidden field. Just un-check the Show Hidden Field option.
