hello this is Chris lab of the information lab Im just going to talk you through a quick tip which allows you to filter using table calculations to effectively hide parts of a visualization that you might be unable to remove through ordinary filtering so lets show you the problem first of all Im going to bring in my subcategories and Im going to put some of sales across here so Im using the standard sample superstore data set and Im going to bring my region on to color now Im going to produce a percentage calculation using the quick table calculations to do a percent of total Im going to come down to % of total in the quick table calculations and just select that then Im going to come back up and compute that over my region that will give me a hundred percent of the total sales and show how each region contributes to that 100% so across each subcategory so now if I want to give my use of the choice of which region they see in this view just to see the percentage contribution o

This helps reduce the size of the data and improves its performance.
Create a table calculation Step 1: Build the visualization. Open Tableau and connect to the Sample-Superstore saved data source. Navigate to a new worksheet. Step 2: Add the table calculation. On the Marks card, right-click SUM(Sales) and select Add Table Calculation.
