Excel what I mean by number grouping or numbering customer records lets say for example we have a table here that is basically a customer record date invoice number the name of the customer we have some categories and items that they have and I wanted to maybe number all customer B and also maybe group them so if you see here we have a number here which are eight records for a customer B right so thats numbering each of the records but we also have a grouping everything from customer B is a sign group number one and then everything for a customer K it is a sign group number two but theres also ten records here for customer okay so lets see how we can do this I have a sheet here lets add some extra rows select this row

Create a category with selected rows 1) Select the rows for the group. You can drag through a range with your cursor or hold Command as you click each one. 2) Right-click any one of the selected rows or the arrow next to a header and choose Create Group for Selected Rows. 3) Youll see groups created in your table.
