When citing the same source in multiple consecutive footnotes, to avoid repetition, the title may be omitted from the citation. The page number should be included in each footnote, even if it is the same as the previous footnote.
Although ideally you will cite more than one source in your research paper, there are times when a single source dominates, and you find yourself referring to it or quoting it repeatedly. Does that mean you have to cite that source in full in a footnote (or endnote) every time? Good news: you dont!
Use of ibid. Ibid. (the abbreviation for ibidem, meaning in the same place) refers to the work cited in the preceding footnote or to the preceding work within the same footnote.
General format: Author (if applicable),Title (if applicable), Resolution or Decision number, UN Body and OR Designation, Session number or year, Supplement number, UN Document number (Date or Year) pinpoint.
If the subsequent citation is in the footnote immediately following the full citation, you can use ibid. Used alone, ibid means in the very same place in other words, the same source and the same page or paragraph as the preceding full citation.
3): ing to the Bluebook, when citing reports from UN committees the citation should include the name of the body and the subcommittee, if any, the title of the report, the document symbol, and the date. Many reports of major bodies of the General Assembly are printed as supplements to the Official Records.
The pinpoint reference should not be repeated. If you refer to the same source as in the immediately preceding footnote but to a different page or section, use ibid followed by the pinpoint reference, that is, the different page or section number.
Cite the page number in the text. If the next source you cite is this same book, you can simply put the new page number in parentheses in the text of your paper. You dont have to write another note.
Each footnote should use a new number even for a previously cited source. The footnote number should be placed at the end of the sentence or the end of a clause in a sentence.
Reference Format: Title [if there is one], bill or resolution number, Cong. (year).
