Distilled water is a great solvent to remove ink from an ink pad. Scatterly pour the water onto the ink pad and soak it in for a few minutes. Remove the soaked ink pad and wring it out so that no more distilled water remains on it.
Luckily, you dont have to soak the excess ink up using a paper towel. The Quick Fix Grab an acrylic block (a larger block is better than a smaller one) Place it on the surface of the pad near one edge. Press the block down into the pad. Pull block towards the opposite edge of the pad. Repeat a few times.
You should only need to go over each part of the pad once. If pools on the surface several minutes after inking, or your stamp impressions are blotchy you have used to much ink. If you have over inked your pad, gently dab the surface with a paper towel. This will remove excess ink and should correct the problem.
