Pour distilled vinegar directly onto the stain and then soak for an hour. Cold cycle wash and then line dry the sheets. Vinegar is not only a great stain remover, but it also removes odors. In fact, vinegar is a gentle, organic cleanser which makes it perfect for use on fine fabrics.
Act quickly, the faster you address the stain, the easier it will be to remove. Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it directly to the stain. Leave for 30 minutes, then pop it in the wash on a normal cycle and dry as usual.
How to Remove Water-Based Stains From Books. Dampen the stained area with a few drops of water. Use a damp microfiber cloth with a drop of dish soap to scrub the stained area gently. Wipe off the soapy residue and extra moisture with a clean, damp cloth.
Soak in Cold Water Fill a basin or tub with cold water and soak your bedsheet for at least 30 minutes. If the stain wont go away, add a bit of salt or enzyme-based stain remover to the water.
***Note: The New York Public Library Desk Reference says: Sponge the stain with cool water or soak in cool water for 30 min. or more. If the stain persists, work soap or detergent into it, then rinse thoroughly. Allow the article to dry. If a greasy stain remains, sponge with a grease solvent.
White vinegar is a natural solution that can help lighten stains and remove unwanted color from white bedding. Mix a vinegar solution with a ratio of a half-cup of white vinegar to every gallon of water, and soak your sheets for an hour before machine washing.
Residual oil and grease may be at least partially removed with paper towel and a warm iron. Some stains can often be improved with a kneaded rubber eraser or Absorene Paper and Book Cleaner. Knead a small amount of Absorene in your hand until it is soft and rub it lightly in one direction over the soiled surface.
Borax. Borax is a very versatile cleaning agent, able to get rid of mold, kill insects, and neutralize odors. The best way to white sheets using borax is to mix half a cup of borax with one gallon of water and soak your sheets in this solution overnight. Then machine wash them as usual.
