Dampen the affected area with a sponge and sand the scratch using light pressure. Make sure to go in the same direction as the metals grain. Work the surface for a few minutes. If the scratch still isnt removed, choose a different sandpaper with a slightly courser grit.
This is the safest way to tackle scratches on plastic and achieve a smooth surface. How do you get scuffed plastic to shine? After removing the scratches with toothpaste, baking soda, or sandpaper, apply WD-40 to your plastic item and buff it to a shine using a cotton rag.
Dampen a soft microfiber cloth. Squirt a small amount of toothpaste onto the damp cloth. Rub hard in circular motions over the scuff mark. Repeat as necessary until the scuff is gone.
How to Remove Shallow Scratches? Clean the plastic surface with a damp cloth, rubbing in a circular motion around the scratch. Dry the area to remove any dirt which should make the process easier to carry out. Apply a mild abrasive, such as toothpaste, furniture polish, baking soda or plastic polish to the scratch.
Choose a Buffing Compound There are numerous commercial stainless steel scratch removers on the market. Or, you can make a gentle abrasive paste with a few drops of water and a powder like baking soda, Bar Keepers Friend, Bon Ami, or non-gel toothpaste.
Non-gel toothpaste can be used as-is, and baking soda can be mixed with water until a pasty consistency is docHubed. Make sure the surface is completely clean of dirt, dust, and food particles. Then dab a small amount of the compound onto a microfiber cloth and rub it continuously over the scratch.
Stainless steel is a great look until you scratch it. Then it looks awful. But you can sand out the scratches with sandpaper (400 to 600 grit) and a sanding block, an abrasive pad, or with a rubbing compound. Or buy a stainless steel repair kit and get everything you need.
Whitening Toothpaste Toothpaste is mildly abrasive and works a little more strongly on light scratches than non-abrasive cleaners. Apply the toothpaste to an old, soft-bristled toothbrush and brush over the scratches, following the grain. Wipe away the toothpaste with a damp microfiber cloth to check the surface.
Place a few drops of mild dish soap in to a small bowl of warm water and gently stir. Dip in your soft cloth or sponge, and wring out before gently scrubbing the mark, making sure not to saturate the area, and finish by wiping dry with a soft, clean cloth.
