To avoid processing delays, please make sure you first have an active, up-to-date USDOT Number record before requesting reinstatement or submit a completed MCS-150 form along with your reinstatement request. If you have questions about your USDOT status, please contact us here by phone, email or chat.
If the status reads Record Inactive or Inactive USDOT Number per 49 CFR 390.19(b)(4); Biennial update of MCS-150 data not completed you will need to complete, sign and submit a new Motor Carrier Identification Report (Form MCS-150) to reactivate the USDOT Number.
Online: You can update your USDOT number company information on the Licensing and Insurance (LI) web site by filing an MCS-150 (Motor Carrier Identification Report). To update online, you will need a Personal Identification Number (PIN). You can apply for your PIN online.
The FMCSA usually processes our reinstatement requests within 24 hours and your authority will generally go active about 3-4 business days after that. Im ready to reinstate, now what? Simply click the appropriate authority type below and click Add to Cart to add to your Service Cart.
You are required to provide this update every two years. Failure to complete a biennial update will result in deactivation of your U.S. DOT Number and may result in civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day, not to exceed $10,000 as periodically adjusted for inflation.
Updates can be done online via the FMCSA online registration system with your US DOT PIN, or by filing an MCS-150 form.
Failure to File Biennial Paperwork Not submitting an update before the deadline will deactivate your U.S. DOT number and incur fines of up to $1,000 a day. The FMCSA requires motor carriers to update their business information every two years or sooner if changes occur.
