To change the spacing between selected paragraphs, use the spacing options on the Page Layout tab: Select the paragraphs you want to change. Click the Page Layout tab, and under Spacing, in the Before and After boxes, click the up or down arrows to adjust the distance before or after each paragraph:
On the Home tab, click the Styles Dialog Box Launcher in the Styles group. At the bottom of the Styles dialog box, click Manage Styles. On the Set Defaults tab, change the Paragraph Position and Paragraph Spacing settings to the values that you want.
Change the default line spacing in Word Go to Home Line and Paragraph Spacing. Under Spacing, choose an option in the Line spacing box. Adjust the Before and After settings if you want to change spacing between paragraphs. Select Set as Default. Choose All documents based on the Normal template. Select OK.
Go to Home and select Line and Paragraph Spacing Line Spacing Options at the bottom of the menu. The Paragraph dialog box opens. On the Indents and Spacing tab, select the options you want, and click OK.
Select the text that you want to return to its default formatting. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Clear All Formatting. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Clear All Formatting. On the Message tab, in the Basic Text group, click Clear All Formatting.
If you are using styles in your documents, you can reset a paragraph to the default settings (ing to the assigned style) by positioning the insertion point anywhere within the paragraph and pressing Ctrl+Q.
A special indentation, such as a first line or hanging indentation, may have been selected. Check the indentation settings by highlighting your text, go to the Home menu and click on the Paragraph settings arrow, and then see if anything is selected under the Special menu. The indentation settings have been changed.
To change the spacing between selected paragraphs, use the spacing options on the Page Layout tab: Select the paragraphs you want to change. Click the Page Layout tab, and under Spacing, in the Before and After boxes, click the up or down arrows to adjust the distance before or after each paragraph:
Word adds space between paragraphswhether you want it to or not. If you display paragraph marks, youll not find any extra paragraph marks. This behavior is part of Words styling. When you press Enter to create a new paragraph, Word increases the line spacing to mark the change from one paragraph to another.
Space between paragraphs is an alternative to a first-line indent for signaling the start of a new paragraph. The worst way to put space between paragraphs is to insert an extra carriage return. (See carriage returns for why.)
