Change paragraph alignment Select the paragraphs you want to change. To center them, select Home Center . To align them along the right margin, select Home Align Right . To align along both margins, select Home Justify .
Change spacing between paragraphs Select the paragraphs you want to change. Click the Page Layout tab, and under Spacing, in the Before and After boxes, click the up or down arrows to adjust the distance before or after each paragraph:
Click the Home tab, and then click the Paragraph dialog box launcher. Under Indentation, click the arrow next to Special, and choose None.
Indentation, the much-maligned formatting technique, provides readers with a sense of continuity. Indentations signal to the reader that she is about to dive into another topic or start a new section of a novel. They help present content in a logical fashion.
The indent styles are applied to a paragraph where sentences are typed to the end without pressing the Enter key. When you press the Enter key, it starts a new paragraph, and the indent style over again. If you need to start another line within the paragraph that continues the format, use Shift+ Enter.
If you are using styles in your documents, you can reset a paragraph to the default settings (ing to the assigned style) by positioning the insertion point anywhere within the paragraph and pressing Ctrl+Q. If you are creating macros you can achieve the same effect by using the Selection.
Click on the Format button at the bottom of the dialog box and select the Paragraph option. In the Paragraph dialog box, click on the Line and Page Breaks tab. Select the paragraph formatting options that you want to change, such as Keep with next or Widow/Orphan control.
On the Home tab, select Line and Paragraph Spacing Line Spacing Options. The Paragraph dialog box opens. On the Indents and Spacing tab, select the options you want, and click OK. The Paragraph dialog box options are described in Adjust indents and spacing.
