So, youve probably seen this before, usually when youre in a hurry, you plug in formulas to your spreadsheet andnothing. The formulas dont calculate or they dont calculate and look more like a sentence than a formula. In our first example, Text formatting is the culprit. To check this, go to the Home tab and, under Number, you can see that our cells are formatted to text. Both of these examples were formatted as text. The one where we can see the = sign was formatted as text before I started typing the formula. The one that looks like a number was formatted as text after I typed the formula. In other words, in the second example the formula used to work, but stopped working when the formatting was changed. To fix this,

To use a formula in report: Create a new formula. Open the Field Explorer (Crystal XI: View Field Explorer; Crystal 8.5: Insert Field Object) Right-click on Formula Fields. Select New. Enter a name for the formula. Click OK. Use the Formula Editor to write the formula.
If you want to change the formula that calculates the data in the formula field, select the formula field in Field Explorer. Right click, then choose Edit. You will then see the Formula Workshop dialogue box. You can then change the formula.
You use IIf to determine if another expression is true or false. If the expression is true, IIf returns one value; if it is false, IIf returns another.
You can open formula workshop by going to Data click formulas or by clicking formula tab on Data tool bar. In the formula workshop there are 2 panels Navigation Panel and Objects Panel. Navigation panel contains a folder for each type of formulas in Crystal Reports.
In Crystal report, Suppress is used to leave the data in the report. To use the Suppress, click Session Expert icon. Here choose the Section part, which we want to hide and click on the Suppress option. Now, click OK button. Subsequently, we can see the suppressed part on the design page of the report.
You can right click the field object either in the Field Explorer or on the report canvas and select Find in Formulas. The other way to access the formula search is to click on the binoculars or press Control-F while you are in the Formula Editor.
To add the formula field, go to the Field Explorer panel. Click on Formula Fields to select it. Right click on Formula Fields, then select New.
